From North Yorkshire to Sweden

Article text
Hester has just spent a very productive three weeks at Ålgården Printmaking Studio in Borås, Sweden. Having completed a month long artist's residency at the studio in 2012, Hester decided to go back to further develop the photopolymer work she had started and has now joined as a member of the studio. Set on the Viskan river, Ålgården is a wonderful place with an intaglio and relief studio; glass, screenprinting and lithography studio, a spacious gallery and a separate artists' house with computer suite and framing facilities. The 140 members come and go throughout the year with some working there daily. Hester finds the intense work time and the stunning location (on the edge of a city next to forests and lakes) very beneficial to developing her professional practise and she plans to undertake annual trips to the studio.
