New Ground opens at Inspired By...

Article text
Hester and Charlotte are exhibiting a new collection of work from 20th November 2014 - 25th January 2015at Inspired By... Gallery at the North York Moors Centre in Danby. Over the past year they have both been developing work inspired by the North York Moors. Charlotte's work is a continuation from her work inspired by old pathways & drover roads this time studying some of the trackways used across the North York Moors. These tracks are mapped out through symbolic decoration inspired by the landscape & surrounding features along the paths and these are applied to the surfaces of her ceramics. Hester's work is the culmination of a calender year spent revisiting some of her favourite fellrunning routes around Sutton Bank, Gormire Lake, Hood Hill and Hawnby. Observing the seasonal changes and the wildlife at the sites, she has developed her ideas back in the studio creating collagraphs, photopolymer intaglios, monotypes and drypoint prints. A film by photographer Paul Harris of her working process can be viewed at the exhibition.

The exhibition is free.
